Thank you!

I wanted to say that first. Thank you to all of you for being a part of our Guild. Thank you to those of you who participate regularly, or write to give advice, or are on the board, help with projects or attend meetings.

A big thank you to Wayne Hein, who is a founding member and has been the treasurer far longer than I even know. Wayne is stepping down. Time to do less. He will still be a board member, but the treasurer is going to be someone new. That means another ask from me — either a current board member or someone who is interested in being on the board will need to step up and take over that position.

Please consider helping out. Our treasurer has an important job to do, but by no means is it a time consuming one. Wayne can speak to what he does much more clearly and you can reach out to him at wwhein33@gmail.com with questions. Thank you for considering!

Thank you to Sue Davies, who will be joining us for our next meeting, doing a presentation/demo of her work as an artist. Thank you, Sue, for being flexible! We have had to reschedule our Monday meetings many times due to weather and Sue happened to be on one of those days. Our next meeting is scheduled for August 18th, at the airport at 7PM. Looking forward to it!

August 16th is the Buffalo Arts and Crafts Festival where the Guild will have a booth to showcase our art, hand out business cards and flyers, and to do a make and take with anyone who stops by. As of today, I am the only person scheduled for set-up, working it, and take-down, plus having art displayed. I would really LOVE some assistance with the day, and I thank you so much in advance for considering to help. Please reach out to me to let me know you are interested in helping or displaying art at artfulwhimsiesbytamra@gmail.com.

Thank you to Four Seasons Optical for allowing us to play at our own pace in creating the beautiful buffalo statue that is placed outside their doors. There were five guild members who worked on it on their own time on weekends for a 6 month period, all for the betterment of the guild. We truly had a blast and hope we can do another one sometime, too.

Thank you to the BACC for including us in their plans for the new community center. I personally cannot wait to get in there, try to figure out our space and how we can connect with the community through art. Plus, there will be wall space for us to hang art as well. If you are free next Tuesday evening, the new center is hosting Nite to Unite at the new facility from 5-8 and there will be tours, food, games, etc. I am planning on being there if you would like to join me. If you aren’t familiar with the new building, it’s the old PenRad building on the west side of Cty 25 as you head towards Monticello from Hwy 55. Turn at the roundabout.

Thank you so very much to Gayle and Rich Kubista, who hosted our picnic for the July meeting. We had such a nice time at their lovely home in Delano, and it was very good to see so many of you there. It was truly a joy hanging out and visiting, enjoying great food and friends.

At the picnic, we learned our next group project artist. Yayoi Kusama is our artist to emulate. You have until the October meeting to create any art you like in her style or in a way that inspires you from her art. If you would like to connect about her beyond Googling her artwork, get in touch with me.

Our venue change out happens in November, so we need to collect in October. Please continue making art of all kinds, too, as we always need animals, landscapes, abstracts, and such for all of our venues.

Finally, I am so grateful to be a part of this group. I am so inspired by all of you, lately Dan Averbeck and his cold wax art. Dan, I now have new supplies for ANOTHER art form to try, and hopefully I can find the time to explore. More toys for me! Thank you!

Gratefully Yours,

Tamra
