Horsehair Raku Pottery
In this workshop, led by award-winning artist Mae Spencer, you will create at least one practice tile and depending on individual skill level, another piece of your choosing. You will learn the multistep process of creating beautiful horsehair Raku fired pottery through three sessions:
Session 1, Saturday, October 3, 1pm - 3pm: Creating a simple form to smooth/burnish
Session 2, Saturday, October 10, 1pm - 3pm: Add terra sigilata burnishing between coats
Session 3, Saturday, October 17, 1pm - 5pm: Firing and waxing
Session lengths are approximate. Classes go at each individual's pace and some may finish earlier than others. All materials are provided.
Mae has worked with clay since 1976, maintains a long-standing Otsego studio, and has received extensive regional and national recognition for her work.
