June News

Hi everyone!

I’m excited to share that I’ve officially stepped into the role of Buffalo Art Guild Board President. I’m deeply grateful for everything Tamra has done — and continues to do — for our Guild. Her dedication has shaped this community, and I’m honored to carry that work forward.

Other updates to our Board of Directors: We’re happy to share that we have a new Board Secretary. New member Barb Lynch has generously offered to fill this role, and we’re so grateful for her willingness to serve. Thank you, Barb!

We have a wonderful year unfolding, with a new meeting space at the Buffalo Area Community Center and a new meeting time of 6:30–7:45 pm, beginning with our June gathering.

Starting in July, we’ll launch our nine‑month series of artist‑led workshops, made possible by the CMAB Project Grant. Tamra kicks off the series leading the Delano 4th of July Street Art Festival. We have an inspiring lineup of instructors, including many of our members, that will continue until March of 2027. I’ll be updating the BAG event calendar as new workshops are added. Workshops are free, but space will be limited.

June Meeting

Our June meeting will focus on sharing our CBS Sunday Morning “Sun” project artwork. Dan Averbeck has generously offered to photograph pieces during the meeting so anyone who wants to submit their work will have high‑quality images ready to email to the show.

We’ll meet in the Workshop Room at the new BACC location (114 Commerce Circle) at our new time, 6:30 p.m. The BACC asks all groups using the building to become free members of the center. You can sign up easily at rec.us/buffalo. Download a directions pdf here. Once registered, you’ll receive a digital QR code to check in at the front desk.

If you’d like help setting up your account, BACC staff are happy to assist and can also print a QR code card upon request.

Venue Art Drop‑Offs

Tamra will be at the Buffalo Airport parking lot on June 3 from 3–5 p.m. for art drop‑offs.

From Tamra:

  • If you have oversized pieces, please let me know — my Kia Soul can only hold so much.

  • If you can’t make that time, email me and we’ll arrange another option. I’m available most evenings.

  • A gentle reminder: you must be a paid Guild member to show your work at our venues.

Buffalo Area Community Center Grand Opening

June 9 from 5–8 pm
BAG will have two tables at the event.

  • Tamra, Naomi, and Gayle will be offering free face painting.

  • I’ll be next to them with BAG flyers, business cards, and information about our summer workshops.

  • We’ll also have a freebie bin of art and craft supplies sourced from our storage spaces and donated by members.

If you’d like to join me at the table to help represent the Guild, I’d love the company. And if you have materials to contribute to the freebie bin, just let us know and we’ll coordinate getting them to the event.

Looking Ahead to July

Gayle Kubista has once again offered to host our annual summer potluck at her home. Last year was full of laughter, great food and good company, and we’re excited to gather again. Gayle will share more details as we get closer to the date.

Thank you all for being part of this creative, generous, and welcoming community. I’m truly looking forward to the year ahead and to all the ways we’ll continue to grow, make, and connect together.

Warmly,
Shari Zimmermann
