November Notes
Hello, Guild!
I have a wooden chair. It’s nothing special, it’s exactly what you are envisioning, a plain old wooden chair.
I like to paint them. I don’t seek them out, but when they fall in my lap, I like to reshape them where they are broken using my Dremel, giving them a new look, and then paint them. Sometimes, they are just a solid color with a colorful chair pad, tacked down with furniture tacks, and other times they scream at you with riotous colors and shapes.
I have recently been given another one, and would like to get your thoughts on what you think should be painted on it. I am not going to give you a picture, as I don’t want the chair to influence you, but what would you be proud to have in your home, or for you to perch on? It is a completely solid, functional chair. Just needs a new personality. Let me know by email if you have any great ideas!
The last 30 days have escaped me, so I am very late putting this out. Our next meeting is on Monday, at the airport at 7PM. Gayle Kubista will be leading us in creating “Thank You” gifts for our venues where we showcase our work over the year. Here is what she is doing and expecting from us:
In November we have traditionally created artwork to either go to our venues, or to a worthwhile cause in the community as a holiday gesture. Next meeting we will be creating a project to give back to our venues. It has been several years since we have thanked them. We will be painting battery operated candles. Each venue will receive 6 tubular candles 5-7 inches tall which can be grouped together or placed separately on desks. We will form groups and use our own designs, but paint according to a theme we decide on as a small group, for instance the theme for the vet may be animals, while the one to the bank may be abstract. Gayle has primed the candles, and the club will provide acrylic paints and a few brushes. If you have some fine brushes to use for details, or special acrylic paint you would like to use for accents please bring these to the meeting. If you aren’t into painting, we can use help in making the 4 thank you cards that will accompany them. Gayle will bring the cardstock but please bring markers or ink if you plan to help with the cards.
I sure hope you can join us to help create these wonderful gifts.
We will host our annual holiday party at the December meeting, so more on that as the information becomes available.
If you plan to attend on Monday, we are still collecting artwork for our venues. We will be doing the switch out later this week, so if you have animal, landscape, abstract art, please bring it along!
Thanks so much and see you Monday!
