Patiently waiting…

Hello, Guilders,

Patience is a virtue, they say. It is not one of my strong points, some of my family would tell you. But in work, teaching settings or among friends, everyone says I am “so patient and understanding.” I dunno. I think it all depends on the situation.

Right now, we are all noticing the weather change outside, patiently waiting for the slop and glop of late winter to disappear so we can put our feet in that cool green grass. You can’t rush Mother Nature, they say...so, we wait.

At the emergency vet the other night, it was so busy, we didn’t have a room, bench, or place to sit except the cat ward, where sad kitties hooked up to machines and tubes rested in their cages. Except for one. Cyrus. Cyrus was a beast. He was in a cone and still hooked up to stuff, but it was his night to go home, if he would only pee first. My kitty was so patient listening to him, some unknown kitty, but worried, tucked under the counter while Cyrus somersaulted and MEOWED constantly. (black kitty mentality, mine’s an orangie.) His family kept coming in and out, talking to him, which exacerbated the situation. It was about two hours of this. One of the receptionists brought me a floor chair while I sat with my kitty, under the counter, watching all of this. For hours. My patience was wearing thin by 2 AM, but what can you do in an emergency room?  I became very patient again after watching a team of 7 do whatever was needed for another kitty. CPR, intubation, etc. My kitty got to come home with me, at least. I just wanted to hold that kitty mama’s hand...

This past month, Shari Zimmermann found out about the Centra Minnesota Arts Board (CMAB) Project Grant opportunity and asked me what I thought. We both decided it was a good fit for our guild, and we went for it. Shari is patient. Shari had to deal with texting and emailing me and other board members for all kinds of information that we found we needed the deeper into this grant application we went. We also were up against unknown usernames, passwords, and a deadline only three weeks or so out, so tension was up for all involved, trying to get her what she needed. She had to wait every single time for responses from us, before she could continue writing this thing. Up until the very last day, almost the very last minute. Shari accomplished so much for us, setting aside most of her personal time for those weeks to write. When you see her, give her a huge shout out for her tremendous skills.

And now we wait.

Patiently.

We wait to hear if we get this grant which will allow us to give the community nine month’s worth of insanely cool fine arts classes in the new Buffalo Area Community Center and surrounding community.

We should hear back about this shortly after CMAB board review on 4/9, so keep your positive thoughts coming!

February has come and gone, and last I heard, we would hopefully be able to start using the space at the BACC in February.

There are always setbacks, and I expected this. No worries.

I am patient.

I am hoping to hear good news soon, where we can be in our new place, working on these classes, holding meetings, etc.

I hope you can be patient, too, as we may have to make a change to our meeting night. Our new place closes at 8:00 and we would have to pay pretty heavily to be there after 8 at night.

So....options.

We can change our meeting time to earlier in the night, be done with everything by 8:00, or we change the date/time to possibly a Saturday? Or, we do nothing, stay at the airport for meetings and still use the space at the community center for other things.

The board will have to vote to make any changes happen. We are meeting on the 24th.

I would really like to hear feedback from all of you, if you have thoughts on this. This is your guild, your voice counts. We like to make decisions based on what you want. Please email me with any thoughts you have on changes to our meeting date/time.

Finally, art. What we are all about! You knew it was in there somewhere, because you are patient with me! Sarah Hoppe is reviving the “CBS sun project” after 10 years. Please see this information in the attachment. Sarah will do a presentation about this at our next meeting, Monday, 3/16, at the Buffalo Municipal Airport. Doors open at 6:30, meeting will start promptly at 7:00PM.

I hope to hear from you soon! I will be waiting patiently!

Warmly, as Always,

Tamra
